Agreement for the protection of the ozone layer
The Joint Conference of the Parties to the Vienna Convention and the Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol was concluded in Bali on 25 November 2011. Several decisions were made on further international funding for the protection of the ozone layer as well as on several technical issues regarding the implementation of the two agreements.

New EU Directive on Ambient Air Quality transposed
On 6 August 2010 more stringent air quality standards came into effect in Germany. This is to transpose the new EU Directive on Ambient Air Quality into German law. For the first time, the Directive sets standards for fine particles, which are particularly dangerous to human health.
