European Workshop on WFD Implementation

The European IMPRESS and Economic Analysis status workshop on June 16 -18 in Mannheim was embedded in the process of the Common Implementation Strategy (CIS) for the Water Framework Directive (WFD). The main goal of the workshop was to support the Member States in preparing the next important implementation step, which is the IMPRESS analysis as well as the Economic analysis to be submitted to the Commission by March 2005 (2004/2005 report).

In particular the workshop aimed at:

• Exchanging experience and results on status of implementation of the 2004/2005 report
• Strengthening co-operation between actors implementing the WFD
• Enhancing integration of economic and IMPRESS issues
• Looking beyond 2004
• Exchanging views on strategic and political issues concerning results and communication

Altogether 79 experts from 21 different countries participated in the workshop.
